Trust issues seem to be something that many people deal with. Whether it be a friend who let them down, a family member who didn’t live up their expectations, or even a doctor who didn’t do his job, all trust issues originate from a problem. Namely, they come from a lack of good where good was expected. When we put expectations on people, we feel hurt if those expectations are not fulfilled. And that makes it harder to trust those same people again in the future.
Now, if this is the case, why do people have a hard time trusting God? After all, He is the only person who will never fail us. It is completely against His nature to disown or hurt His people. So why do we still have trust issues?
Well, we don’t always like the way He brings His plan into action. We don’t always like the growing pains of a plan that we could have never imagined on our own. So sometimes, we are inclined to back off, even if we know that He has our back through it all.
The bible talks about trusting the Lord on countless occasions. And if we compare our suffering and tribulations in the 21st century to those of… oh I don’t know… ancient Egypt… I think we kind of have it easy. The point is that we have thousands of years of faithful Christians behind us rooting us on.
So, if you ever feel the need to be assured of God’s unending care, here are some of my favorite verses on trusting God.
“Consider the generations long past and see; has anyone trusted in the Lord and been disappointed? Has anyone persevered in His fear and been forsaken?” –Sirach 2:10
“For I will trust the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob; Yes, I will wait on Him.” – Isaiah 8:17
“Trust in God, and He will help you; make your ways straight and hope in Him.” -Sirach 2:6
“The Lord is my help; therefore I am not disgraced.” –Isaiah 50:7
“When cares increase within me, your comfort gives me hope.” –Psalm 94:19
“Let Israel hope in the Lord. For with the Lord is mercy and with Him is plentiful redemption.” –Psalm 130:7
“I will not leave you nor forsake you.” -Joshua 1:5
“Cast your care upon the Lord, who will give you support; He will never allow the righteous be stumble.” –Psalm 55:23
“They shall not fear an ill report; their hearts are steadfast, trusting the Lord.” –Psalm 112:7
“In the morning let me hear of your mercy, for in you I trust. Show me the path I should walk, for I entrust my life to you.” –Psalm 143:8
Have a blessed day!!
