Hello Friends in Christ,
My name is Maddy Barr and I’m an 11th grade gal with a love for the Catholic Church! Thank you for checking out this first post and I sincerely hope that you will stick around for what comes next.
We have all been called to action as Catholic Christians and followers of Christ. This little blog is my way of spreading the joy of the gospel. Through these posts, I hope to write discussions on different topics of faith, inspiring stories, Catholic news, book reviews, and whatever else might peak my interest. I know it will be an adventure and I am so very excited to get started!
One of my favorite bible passages (and the inspiration for the blog title) is John 15:12-14. Jesus says…
This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
In this passage, we see just a glimpse of the beauty of the Catholic faith. Christ calls us to lives of love on many different levels. He calls us to love our neighbor through the simple things of daily life and to love God through our prayer and thanksgiving. Christ showed us this same love when He died for us, even while we were sinners. None of us deserved this sacrifice, but He still gave His life out of pure love for us. We could never ask for a greater gift than a God who loves us in such a compassionate way.
Please pray for me through this journey and I will do the same for you!!
Maddy
Maddy, Gram & I read your blog today, we absolutely loved your work. If we keep love “central” to our daily life everything else will fall in place.
Thank you for sharing your love of Christ. Gramps
